Scary Fast: New M3 Chips, USB-C Accessories, and iPad Mini Rumors

Apple’s highly anticipated “Scary Fast” event is just hours away, and it promises to be a night of excitement for tech enthusiasts worldwide. While the event’s timing varies depending on your location, it’s scheduled for 1 AM on October 31st in Spain. In the lead-up to the event, last-minute rumors are swirling about what Apple might unveil.

Three M3 Chips

Apple is set to launch three variations of the M3 chip, which will power the new Macs revealed during the event. These variants, namely the M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max, are expected to bring significant improvements. According to the latest information provided by Mark Gurman, these are the rumored specifications:

  • M3: The M3 chip is expected to feature an eight-core CPU, with four high-performance and four high-efficiency cores, as well as up to 10 GPU cores. While these specifications align with the M2 chip, the M3 is anticipated to support better memory configurations and deliver faster core performance.

  • M3 Max: The M3 Max chip has also undergone various tests, including one with 16 CPU cores (12 for performance and four for efficiency) and an astonishing 40 GPU cores. There is also a less powerful version with 32 GPU cores.

New USB-C Accessories

Apple is expected to unveil a new iMac, and along with it, the Magic Mouse, Magic Keyboard, and Magic Trackpad will receive updates. These accessories are set to replace their Lightning connections with USB-C, though it remains unclear if any design changes beyond the port update will be introduced.

No New 13-inch MacBook Pro

While a refresh for the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models is anticipated, the same doesn’t seem to be in the cards for the 13-inch MacBook Pro. Apple has continued to maintain the design of the previous generation for this model, equipped with the M1 and M2 chips. The M3 chip is unlikely to make its debut in the 13-inch MacBook Pro at this time.

Possible New iPad Mini

In a last-minute development, rumors have emerged about potential updates to the iPad mini. Battery capacity information for several new Apple devices has been leaked through a Chinese regulatory database. These include a 14-inch MacBook Pro, a 16-inch MacBook Pro, a Magic Keyboard for Mac, and an iPad mini.

Although the battery capacities are similar to previous models, past trends suggest that they might receive updates. With expectations high for new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models and a new Magic Keyboard for Mac, the possibility of a refreshed iPad mini, which hasn’t seen an update since late 2021, is now in the spotlight.

Apple enthusiasts and tech experts around the world eagerly await the “Scary Fast” event, where Apple is set to unveil these rumored innovations, setting the stage for a thrilling journey into the future of technology.
